Theme of this work relates to the previous assessment of the accuracy of geodetic networks for special purposes. It presents the process of designing and realization of geodetic basis for special applications in engineering. Required quality criteria of local geodetic networks are stated together with the theoretical basis of Gauss-Markov model of indirect leveling. Simulation method is also shown, as one of the methods of design optimization of special geodetic networks. For the purpose of monitoring the „ Gazela" steel bridge construction in Belgrade, preliminary evaluation of accuracy of control 2D geodetic network is done in order to implement the required quality of network for the purpose of monitoring the representative points on the construction.
